Acquia's Drupal Layout and Theming Course
This is perhaps my aesthetically-pleasing course I developed while employed at Acquia. I developed this course with the purpose of learning in a relaxing state at the ocean beach.
Course specifics
This course is about learning how to design the look and feel of a website using Drupal. It focuses on creating and customizing website designs, which are called "themes" in Drupal. The course is structured in a way that makes learning easy, breaking down the process into smaller, manageable parts.
During the course, students will build their own theme, learning the basics of how to make a website not just functional but also visually appealing. It's designed for people who already have some basic knowledge of using Drupal, like navigating its settings and managing a simple site. By the end of this course, participants will understand how to create and modify themes to make websites look exactly the way they want.
By the end of the training you will be able to:
- Understand what a theme is in Drupal.
- Understand how a request goes from a web browser and through Drupal’s functional, database, and theming layers.
- Understand what themers do.
- Understand the key elements of a theme project and how to create them.
This course is intended for users familiar with Drupal’s essential features. You’ve already been through an introductory course. You are responsible for the look and feel of the site, and you want to know how to customize the theme or create a new theme.
To get the most out of this course, you should be able to:
- Navigate the administration area to manage essential tasks.
- Set up and configure a basic Drupal site.
- Install and configure modules.
- Manage user roles and accounts.
